エンジン回転が激しく上下するスポーツ走行時、ノーマルのラジエターホースは吸い込み圧、振動等でストローのようにつぶれてしまいます。特に大型ラジエターなどに交換すると、吸う水量が多いためその傾向が高くなります。スポーツ走行では高い水圧での破裂よりも、吸い込み圧での「つぶれ」現象が問題なのです。一度「つぶれ」が起きるとアイドル回転でも戻らず、すぐにヒートしてしまいます。スプーンでは厚肉ＳＥＰ材でレース用アルミパイプと同様に耐変形性の高い車種専用品を作成しました。

Spoon Sports has found that during hard driving, OEM radiator hoses were susceptible to collapsing due to changes in suction pressure, vibrations and sudden engine speed changes. It was also found that vehicles equipped with larger sports radiators were especially susceptible to radiator hoses collapsing. The issue of collapsing radiator hoses can be worse than a rupture, due to the fact that it can easily go undetected even with an additional water temperature gauge - the coolant circulation can be cut off before the water temperature sensor, resulting in an overheat condition. The Spoon Sports SEP radiator hose set is designed to hold it's shape even under heavy vacuum and heat even in race conditions.
