Despite the S2000 being designed as a pure sports car, it was built with compromises in order to have a reasonable level of comfort. This becomes clear when looking at the stock differential mounts - they have to much compliance built in to maximize driveline stability. This becomes clear in oversteer conditions, when instantaneous and direct throttle control is key to car control. By adding rigidity to the rear differential, all functions of the driveline are improved - especially when combined with an aggressive limited slip differential.
